Muck Season Part I

Living in the banana belt that is the Missoula valley is a little challenging in the winter. Snow comes, snow goes. And when it goes, it is hideously, nastily, grossly, mucky, slushy, muddy, goo, for entirely too long. These conditions make for a hellish experience in trying to do anything. Still, as a die hard outdoorsy who refuses to be pushed inside on account of slush and rain, I am exploring gear in which to mourn a fading winter period while still finding happiness doing what I love to do.
Kathryn is a Missoula-based writer, editor and recovering field biology underling-- i.e., she did all the dirty work in the worst conditions. Call her a tree-hugger and she'll kick you in the shins. When she is not writing, she's out on the trails running her dogs. Good luck trying to keep up with her.
